From Camp to the Mission Field
"I recently heard the Bruski family, missionaries to Oradea, Romania speak to our church about the mighty and amazing things God is doing there and how our church as a whole can get involved. And I started thinking about M-Fuge. You see without M-Fuge and the way God has used it over the past 6 years my husband, Marty, would have never led a group of 34 people from McNairy County Tennessee thousands of miles away to Romania this past summer.
Seven years ago we took our small church's youth group to Centrifuge at Union University, mainly because I grew up going to Centrifuge (James Jackson was my camp pastor back in 92!). It was a good experience but we knew the next year we had to take our kids to M-Fuge, thinking we would alternate every other year. Well, 2005 came around and M-Fuge Nashville made such an impact on our whole group, not to mention Marty and myself that we knew we'd never go anywhere else for camp. It was this year that you started your missions emphasis on Canada and the Roma people. And Marty and I knew God was using FUGE to call us as a group to go, so long story short in 2009, Marty took 24 people to M-Fuge Canada because of the emphasis that was placed on it during camp. Coming back we knew that 2010 had to be Romania! So 34 people from 5 different churches boarded a plane to Oradea and saw God do great and mighty things and all came back changed people. So thank you, for being faithful to teach us about the Roma and Canada, I don't know that we'd have ever dreamed that big without you.
But that's not all God has done, in the past 7 years we've seen 4 of our high school students take independent mission trips, our most recent was a girl who stayed for 2 months in South Africa, so we were thrilled to learn about the new missions offering focus for FUGE. It also inspired us to make our Spring Break trip all about serving, we stay at our church and serve our community for 1 week, I can't begin to explain how God is using this week. Plus Marty has organized a giant one day M-Fuge type experience for our association. We've seen 8 youth surrender to full time ministry in these 7 years and I know FUGE played a part in that.
I said all that to say this, we are a small church in rural West Tennessee and God has used you in our lives/ministry to go beyond what we thought we could do for God and to do what God wants us to do for Him. Thank you for being faithful, thank you for teaching us to serve, thank you for investing not only in students but in us as their leaders (I love adult Bible study), thank you for CentriKid ( I think it's the best kid's camp out there), thank you for loving God and loving people. The youth and their leaders at First Baptist Church Adamsville, TN will never be the same."
In Him,
In Him,
